Police Provide Update As At Least 15 People Are Confirmed Dead


When a mass shooting at a Prague university left at least ten people dead, students were seen hiding on a ledge



According to Czech police and the city's rescue service, a mass shooting at a university in downtown Prague on Thursday left at least ten people dead and approximately thirty injured. The shooter is identified as dead.


The incident allegedly happened at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University, which is close to the popular tourist destination Old Town in the Czech capital. Social media videos seemed to show people escaping the scene.


The victims and the circumstances surrounding the gunfire in the capital of the Czech Republic were not disclosed by the police. Officers were called in, they said, because there was a disturbance at a school in Jan Palach Square.


Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda said that the philosophy department of Charles University, which is situated in the square, was evacuated. According to the police department, the square is blocked off. It asked people to stay inside and avoid the nearby streets.
