North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned Pyongyang will not hesitate to launch a nuclear attack on the US

Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, has said that he is prepared to destroy the United States if provoked after witnessing a potent missile test.

According to state media on Thursday, December 21, 2023, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stated that his country would not think twice about using nuclear weapons to provoke an adversary.

Kim made these remarks while he was congratulating soldiers from the military's missile bureau for Pyongyang's recent intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch drill, according to the KCNA news agency.

As reported by KCNA, he stated that the test was “a clear explanation of the offensive counteraction mode and the evolution of the nuclear strategy and doctrine of the DPRK not to hesitate even a nuclear attack when the enemy provoke it with nukes” and that it showed the allegiance and firm stance of the armed forces.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, or DPRK, is the North's official name.

In response to growing hostility from the United States, North Korea said this week that it tested its newest intercontinental ballistic missile on Monday.

Top diplomats from South Korea, Japan, and the United States denounced North Korea's recent ballistic missile launches and called on Pyongyang to participate in “substantive dialogue without preconditions” in a joint statement released on Wednesday.

According to KCNA, Kim stated that Monday's launch demonstrated the military's high mobility and quick attack capability and urged efforts to increase its combat effectiveness.
