The Niger government forbids civil servants from wearing babanriga or kaftans from Monday through Thursday
Gov. Mohamed Bago of Niger State announces that the official dress code for civil servants will now be cooperative wear. “Babariga” and kaftan are no more suitable.
Niger State Governor Umaru Bago has made it illegal for government employees to wear kaftans and babanriga to work from Monday through Thursday.
Bago issued a warning, stating that any officer disobeying the order would be fired.
The order was given by the governor at the Brains and Hammers Rice City in the Wushishi Local Government Area of the state, during the equipment presentation for land development and preparation.
“No Babanriga, No Kaftan, we are here to work.
“Anybody who wants to wear Babanriga should resign.
“We are also going to engage in serious farming activities going foward,” Bago said.
He issued an order that all English clothing is now acceptable.
