FG Proclaims January 1, December 26, and December 25 To Be Public Holidays
The Federal Government has declared December 25, 26 and January 1, 2024, as public holidays
To commemorate Christmas and New Year's Day celebrations, respectively, the Federal Government has declared Monday, Tuesday, December 25, and 26, 2023, and Monday, January 1, 2024, as public holidays.
On Friday, December 22, 2023, the Federal Government's Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this announcement and expressed his congratulations to all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, on this momentous occasion.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo exhorted Christians to follow Jesus' example of humility, service, compassion, and patience in their daily lives. He emphasized that prosperity and economic development are contingent upon peace and security.
The minister gave his word that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Federal Government would keep implementing sensible policies to protect people's lives and property.
He told Nigerians to be alert to security issues and to report any suspicious individuals or activity to the local security services. He reaffirmed that in order to safeguard everyone's life and property in their local communities as well as the country at large, discipline is required during the Yuletide season. Tunji-Ojo warned all the people to stay focused on that. 2024 will be a better year thanks to the President's Renewed Hope agenda.
