Wife Arrested Over Setting Husband's House Ablaze Over Divorce

A 20-year-old housewife was arrested for destroying her husband's home because he wouldn't get a divorce

Amina Hassan, a 20-year-old housewife, has been taken into custody by police in Adamawa State. It is believed that she set her husband's house on fire after he refused to file for divorce.

Hassan, a resident of Mubi North's Shuware neighborhood, is reported to have wed Muhammad Auwal roughly five weeks ago after he promised to divorcing her soon after their wedding.

In an interview with police, she stated:  "We made an arrangement that he would divorce me after the marriage. I met him and pleaded with him to divorce me, but he remained adamant.

He descended on me and started beating me instead of divorcing me, as a result of which I lost my temper and set the house ablaze."

According to reports, it happened a few days before the wedding, Amina had informed her parents that she was no longer interested in the marriage.

A few days prior to the wedding, Amina reportedly told her parents that she was no longer interested in being married to the man.

Her parents, however, felt that since they had already sent out invitation cards, there was no going back.

According to people close to her, she tried everything to turn her husband's heart away from her, but he seemed more interested in her even after she went to a native doctor for assistance.

The local physician is rumored to have left Mubi and blocked his phone number in order to appease her.
