Uche, the widow of President Nnamdi Azikiwe, says Nigerians shouldn't japa

The widow of former Nigerian President Nnamdi Azikiwe, Uche Ewah Azikiwe MFR, has cautioned Nigerians from leaving the country due to its difficulties.

The professor claimed that Nigerians ought to stay behind and restore their country on Wednesday, November 15, while speaking at an event in Abuja.

Mrs. Azikiwe urged the wives of the nation's leaders to take care of themselves and to raise their kids with the utmost care so that they will love Nigeria.

She made her speech yesterday in Abuja, during the 4th Zik's Annual Award Lecture 2023.

Vanguard quoted her as saying: "I would advise the wives of our leaders to have something to do and to be able to bring up our children in the best way so that they will love Nigeria as my son said earlier, they are not leaving Nigeria.

“No matter the way Nigeria goes, we must live in Nigeria, so that no child would Japa tomorrow or next. Let us stay in Nigeria and turn Nigeria to the best we can.”

She reacted to criticism that some people had leveled at her late husband's actions by saying, “He wasn’t a saint. Even Jesus Christ was crucified by people, so we don’t feel all that bad when people criticize him or feel bad because some people say he did this or that. There is no worry about that, he was a human being.”
