He has been unveiled as the new Acting Commissioner of Police for Lagos State.

Ayilara, a former deputy commissioner of police, succeeds AIG Idowu Owohunwa as head of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

The Police Service Commission granted approval for Owohunwa to be one of the twelve Commissioners of Police to be promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders throughout the state are instructed by DCP Waheed to maintain the highest level of security within their designated areas.

Ahead of the approaching Yuletide, he issued this charge during a strategic conference with the command's commanders and other heads of department.

When MOPOL 2 had its headquarters in Keffi, Lagos, DCP Ayilara served as its commander.

On top of that, he oversaw administration at CSPA, Lagos Command, as the Chief Superintendent of Police.

His transfer to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, or FCID, occurred in 2020.

Ayilara was reportedly given the endorsement of Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun for the role.

Ayilara previously served as the Commander of MOPOL 2, which had its main office in Keffi, Lagos.

Additionally, he served as the Lagos Command's Chief Superintendent of Police, overseeing CSPA and Administration.
