UCL: What Paul Scholes Has To Say About Manchester United Player

Raphael Varane's legs "look sluggish," according to Manchester United star Paul Scholes, who worries the defender won't be able to stay in shape.

Varane has had a shaky season thus far and has already missed a month of the season due to injury.

When the Frenchman strayed out wide and allowed a pass to go through his legs during Man United's recent Champions League 3-2 loss to Galatasaray, Kerem Akturkoglu scored the equalizer.

Then, as Mauro Icardi chipped goalie Andre Onana for the game-winning goal, the former Real Madrid star was hesitant to close him down.

Varane, who transferred from Real Madrid to Man United in 2021, arrived at Old Trafford as one of the most accomplished footballers in history.

"I worry about Varane a bit, he has been one of the very best defenders around, in that same ilk at Real Madrid," Scholes said to TNT Sports.

"I just think his legs are looking sluggish, he can't keep fit and I worry about him.

"Really disappointed. I actually don't think they played that badly. All the talk before the game was that they couldn't really score goals and there was a lack of goals in the team.

"We were successful a couple of times which led to big goals for us, so I am delighted with the players' commitment."

This weekend's Premier League matchup between Man United and Brentford will feature Varane as the team's expected winning captain.
