Tinubu's Appeal Against APM Is Rejected By The Supreme Court
The party had argued that Ibrahim Masari, the president's stand-in nominee, had not been changed within the 14-day period required under Section 33 of the Electoral Act.
The party's chief attorney, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume, informed the court during the hearing on Monday that their appeal was not based on a double nomination.
He maintained that Kashim Shettima's nomination as vice president was unlawful.
If the APM stood to benefit anything from the situation, the court questioned.
"What will you gain if you win this appeal? There are other appeals that are asking for something substantial. There is nothing to gain but to give us work to do. You are not asking us to put your candidate there as president," the panel led by John Okoro said.
However, the APM attorney submitted a request to withdraw his appeal.
The attorneys for APC, INEC, Ibrahim Massari, and Tinubu did not oppose.
"Having been withdrawn, the appeal is hereby struck out," Okoro said.
