Third Mainland Bridge Repairs Will Be Complete

Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, expressed pleasure with the repairs made to the Third Mainland Bridge on Sunday, assuring drivers of a pleasant journey till the start of a thorough restoration in January 2024.

During a spot inspection of the bridge repairs that had been promised and the progress of the case on Sunday, Kesha provided the guarantee.

According to another story, the restriction remained in place from Saturday night's midnight till Sunday night's midnight to lessen the inconvenience for drivers. Throughout the inspection, the controller made stops along various sections of the 9.7-kilometer Lagos Island in-bound lane between Liyana-Oworo and Adeniji-Adele where corrective repairs had been made.

She claimed that the work was only palliative in nature, meant to maintain the highway's condition until the full reconstruction, set for January 2024.

"This repair is going to last beyond January; we don't intend to do any work that will last only one or two months. Even by January, the road will still be good," she said. Kesha said that some of the components needed for the comprehensive rehabilitation works were being imported for the emergency repairs to begin.

The entire rehabilitation would entail completely removing the asphalt surface and replacing it, she continued, noting that what the Federal Ministry of Works had been doing up to this point was fixing the failed areas.

She said that the six-month contract, which would be broken up into two phases of three months each, was awarded for the total renovation of the bridge in January.

The extensive restorations, according to Kesha, would offer the infrastructure a fresh start. then the bridge would have a fresh appearance.
