Chicago State University Saga: The Reputation Of Nigeria Is At Risk - Atiku Abubakar
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu |
Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) presidential candidate, has insisted that Nigeria's reputation is at risk due to the controversy surrounding the Chicago State University (CSU) certificate that President Bola Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Atiku spoke on Thursday during an International news conference held in Abuja.
Additionally, he exhorted the concerned parties to maintain the principles of democracy by confirming the veracity of the certificate Tinubu had provided to INEC.
"The reputation of our country is at stake and that affects Nigerians everywhere and wherever they may be." Atiku said.
Recall that Tinubu's academic records were made public on Monday by Chicago State University.
Carl Westberg, the CSU Registrar, also conducted a deposition of the documents on Tuesday in accordance with the court's order from Magistrate Jeffrey Gilbert.
Atiku's plea for Gilbert to divulge Tinubu's academic records had been approved last month, but the President requested a review of the decision.
In their request for a review of the decision, Tinubu's attorneys contended that the records would not be relevant in Atiku's Supreme Court case against the President.
