Police Uncovers Firearms Factory In Lagos And Capture Two Operators
Two suspects were detained by agents of the Lagos Police Command who were running a factory that produced firearms for sale to criminals at Idata Village in the state's Ibeju-Lekki region.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's spokesperson, the factory was raided and the two suspects were taken into custody on September 11 at around 4:00 p.m.
According to him, the police were informed of the factory's existence by intelligence.
Three locally made single-barrel pistols, one locally made double-barrel gun, one locally made single-barrel gun, two locally made single-barrel long guns, ten spent cartridges, twelve long pipes, two drilling machines, one gas cylinder, one vehicle, and other fabricated tools were among the items listed by the police spokesperson as having been recovered from the factory.
According to Hundeyin, the 32 people detained by police for alleged involvement in various criminal activities across Lagos State in the previous month included the two suspects who were nabbed for running the weapons factory.
Hundeyin claimed that the suspects were engaged in armed robbery, the manufacture of firearms, and adulteration of goods while parading some of the suspects at the State Police Headquarters in Ikeja. among other things, cultism and theft.
He claimed that during that time, authorities found 25 guns, including a toy gun, as well as 74 live rounds, 12 spent rounds, and 12 long pipes on the suspects.
Other goods found, according to Hundeyin, included 251 contaminated wires, two drilling equipment, one gas cylinder, one car, fake tools, two daggers, and one UTC axe.
He claimed that on September 18 at around 2.30 p.m., members of the Command detained a 27-year-old man who had been using the pretense of a dispatch rider to break into cars and steal brain boxes and other equipment.
Hundeyin further claimed that on October 11 at around 11.45 p.m. in the Yaba district, the police killed a rival cultist before apprehending a wanted suspect who was both an armed robber and a suspected cultist.
Through the suspect, he claimed that six further people were detained in the Ikorodu neighborhood with three live rounds, one double barrel shotgun, and two locally built single barrel firearms.
