New Head Of The National Office For WAEC


Dr. Amos Dangut has been named the new Head of National Office (HNO) for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).


He served as the Deputy Registrar of the HNO office before to being named leader of the council.


He was appointed shortly after Mr. Patrick Areghan, the council's most recent HNO, had his term expire.


The appointment is detailed in a statement made to newsmen on Monday in Lagos by Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head, Public Affairs, WAEC.

According to NAN, Areghan, who resigned from government on October 1, joined the organization as HNO on March 5, 2020.


Adesina claimed that after beginning his employment with the council as an Assistant Registrar (AR) II in 1998, he worked his way up to become a Deputy Registrar in April 2018.


She said that Dangut received praise from the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) for conducting exams transparently between 2000 and 2006.


"He served as an Assistant Registrar/Subject Officer of Examinations Security and Deputy to the branch Controller, Uyo office, between January.


"2005 and January 2008, Senior Assistant Registrar/Head of Examinations Security and Deputy to the branch Controller, Bauchi office between January 2008 to December 2011.


"Dangut was also Senior Assistant Registrar/Branch Controller Yola office, between December 2011 to January 2019 and Deputy Registrar/Controller Post Examinations Department between January 2019 to October 2020.


"He was also the Deputy Registrar/Zonal Coordinator, Ikeja Zonal Office," she said.


She claimed that during the previous 25 years, the recently appointed HNO has creatively improved procedures for test development, test administration, and post-test activities by utilizing information and communications technology (ICT).


Dangut, a smart scholar with multiple academic publications in national and international journals, had also delivered a number of keynote addresses and other papers at conferences and fora on a global and national scale, she added.


According to Adesina, the appointee is an active member of both the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) and the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN).
