All 200- to 600-level medical students at Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, were suspended by the administration on Monday for a period of one month
This is stated in an internal memo that has been verified by Mr. Tser Vanger, the university spokesperson, and signed by Dr. Mfaga Modom, the registrar.
According to Dr. Modom's memo, all College of Health Sciences medical students at the 200–600 level shall begin a one-month suspension on October 30 at 8:00 a.m. and return on Wednesday, November 29.
She stated that the school management had looked over the affected pupils' recent conduct as well as information from the appropriate authorities regarding their demonstration on October 25 before making this decision.
She said that the management was appalled by the students' obstinate behavior prior to, during, and following the demonstration.
She said that an inquiry committee will be established to examine the immediate and distant reasons of the protest and offer recommendations as needed.
"A top Management Committee of the College of Health Sciences is hereby directed to implement the Resolutions of the Reports of the various committees on the students' demonstration."
She issued a warning, saying that each student would need to present a sworn affidavit attesting to good behavior from a competent court of law when classes resumed. Additionally, each kid needs to bring a parent or guardian who will sign an undertaking.
She further announced, "The Benue State University Medical Students Association (BESUMSA) has also been suspended with immediate effect till further notice," issuing a warning to the suspended medical students to leave their hostels on Monday, October 30, at the latest.
She stated that the medical students at the 100-level continue their academic pursuits unhindered.
