NLC Disputes The Start Of An Indefinite Strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has refuted rumors that a statewide strike has been called that will last indefinitely.

According to online sources, the union's planned strike started on Friday after its deadline for the federal government passed on Thursday.

As a result of the government's refusal to comply with organized labor's demands, we reported that the group had threatened to shut down the nation's economy.

The union is requesting from the federal government enough palliatives to lessen the effects of ending fuel subsidies.

The NLC earlier started a two-day warning strike during which it gave a 14-day deadline on September 5 and 6.

Online allegations that the union has started an indefinite strike went viral on Friday, while workers wait for additional instructions.

Benson Upah, the director of information and public affairs at NLC, declared, "The report is not true."

He urged the populace to ignore the viral report.
