SERIE A: 'Lukaku Needs To Feel Loved And Wanted' - Mourinho
"Inter don't need to be angry..."
Romelu Lukaku, a striker on loan from Chelsea, "needs to feel loved," according to Roma manager Jose Mourinho.
After Lukaku scored the team's opening goal, Mourinho made the following statement.
Despite Juventus and Inter Milan, two of Roma's Serie A rivals, showing interest, the Belgian player signed on with Roma for a season-long loan this summer.
Following Lukaku's goal in Sunday's 7-0 destruction of Empoli by Roma, Mourinho provided advice on how to maximize his performance. Lukaku has struggled with consistency over the past two seasons.
The former player for Manchester United and Chelsea also asserted that Inter Milan have "no reason to be angry" at Lukaku for passing them by because they have a wide range of offensive options.
"I found him happy, Romelu needs to be happy, to feel loved and wanted. He arrived here and immediately felt that the team needed a player like him.
"I think he's really happy, he obviously likes to win and that's his nature.
"At Inter they have no reason to be angry because they won a derby 5-1 and have an extraordinary team, with many attackers. They must be happy for their former coach who needed Romelu," Mourinho told DAZN.
