The U.K. Government Spent £162 Million On Queen Elizabeth II's Funeral And Related Ceremonies

Following Queen Elizabeth II's passing in September 2022, the United Kingdom government reports that about £162 million ($201 million) was spent on her state burial and related ceremonies.


This was announced by the finance minister, John Glen, in a written declaration to the legislature on May 18, 2023.


A substantial security operation was required for hundreds of foreign heads of state and royals attending the elaborate state burial for Britain's longest-serving monarch, which was held on September 19.
