Two US Embassy Employees Abducted In Anambra Were Rescued By Security Personnel

Security personnel have freed the two consulate staff employees who were abducted on Tuesday after an ambush on their vehicle in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of the Anambra State.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police's press secretary, informed the media in Awka of this on Friday.

Ikenga claimed that although their names and identities were not made public, they were recovered unharmed by the joint security forces early on Friday.

"In the early hours of Friday, May 19, 2023, the joint security forces rescued unhurt the two remaining victims abducted during the attack on a US convoy attack along Atani/Osamela road in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.

"Operations are still ongoing and further details shall be communicated, please," Ikenga added.
