Victor Osimhen, a striker for the Super Eagles, was reportedly held captive for three days in a hotel to prevent him from signing with Liverpool.

Cristiano Giuntoli, Napoli's director of football, was essential in arranging Osimhen's transfer from Lille in 2020.

A fascinating behind-the-scenes tale has finally been revealed by Giandomenico Costi, a former collaborator of Giuntoli.

The signing of Osimhen, according to Costi, who collaborated closely with Giuntoli for nearly nine years, was Giuntoli's "biggest masterpiece."

"The signing of Osimhen is Giuntoli's biggest masterpiece," Costi told Tuttosport, as per Football Italia.

"He (Osimhen) was locked in a hotel for three days. Giuntoli knew Liverpool were interested, and Jurgen Klopp had made his move, but Cristiano spoke to Osimhen in the hotel for three days until he convinced him to accept Napoli," he added.

Osimhen played with Lille for just one season, but in that short time, he impressed many of Europe's top teams with his goal scoring ability, tallying 18 goals in 38 games.
