Nigerians Are Unified Overseas But Are Divided At Home – Obasanjo
Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, has claimed that while living abroad, Nigerians are more unified, but that at home, they behave more hostilely.
Obasanjo asked Nigerians in the diaspora to replicate this unity when they return home after being moved by the sense of community displayed by Nigerians living in the United States of America.
At a nighttime reception hosted in New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA, he disclosed this information on behalf of a delegation of distinguished traditional leaders and academics, which also included the Olowu of the Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola.
"Nigerian nationals are often very united when they are abroad, but something else when they return to the country," Obasanjo had said.
The former president pleaded with them to behave honorably both abroad and when they returned to Nigeria.
The Rutgers University administration was complimented by the Balogun Owu for their "far-reaching engagements" and for the warm welcome they gave the delegation.
