ORGAN TRAFFICKING: IKE EKWEREMADU SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS 6 MONTHS IN JAIL, OBINNA OBETA JAILED FOR 10 YEARS, BEATRICE EKWEREMADU JAILED FOR 6 YEARS

Senator Ekweremadu, his wife, and their doctor have been imprisoned in the United Kingdom for organ trafficking

Senator Ike Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice, and their'middleman' doctor, Obinna Obeta, have been jailed for organ trafficking by the Central Criminal Court at Old Bailey, London.

The couple and their 25-year-old daughter Sonia were charged with transporting a 21-year-old street trader from Lagos to the United Kingdom with the goal of harvesting his kidney.

At a sentencing hearing on Friday, May 5, Ekweremadu was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison, his wife Beatrice to four years and six months, and Obeta to ten years.

The defendants were directed to the Byazhin Police Division in Abuja by the judge, Justice Johnson.
