FOOTBALL SUPPORTERS EXHORT OSIMHEN TO EMULATE NAPOLI FORM FOR THE SUPER EAGLES

Soccer supporters have urged Nigerian international Victor Osimhen to carry over his club form for the national team as Napoli won the Serie A championship on Thursday night.

Osimhen and Napoli were praised for their outstanding achievement by certain supporters who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Friday.

Thomas Ibenjo expressed his desire for Osimhen to continue playing at the level he did for Napoli for the Super Eagles.

"I am happy for Osimhen for winning the Serie A in style. How I wish he could replicate the form in Super Eagles and drive us to glory again.

"He was instrumental in Napoli winning the Scudetto. We want him to also bring the form home to our darling super eagles and drive us to glory," he said.

Osimhen, according to Olukunle Abiola, had a huge impact on his club, but there were high expectations for him at home.

"He has performed excellently in Napoli this season. We, the Super Eagles fans now want him to come and do the same at home," he said.

For his part, Ahmed Usman claimed that Osimhen, who consistently brought him delight, was the reason he began to support Napoli.

"I fell in love with Napoli because of Osimhen. I tried to watch all their matches because of his work rate and agility in every match.

"All I want from him now is to come and win the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) for Nigeria. Nigeria needs him to come and write his name in a golden pen," he said.

Osimhen, according to Mr. Femi Babatunde, has captured the hearts of Napoli supporters, but not those of Nigerian supporters.

He claimed that as a result of his performance, Osimhen was growing in popularity in Italy rather than Nigeria.

"Osimhen should come home and win our hearts. Nigeria is your home, and we deserve to celebrate a major trophy during your own time," he said.

Napoli won the Serie A for the third time in 33 years on Thursday night thanks to an Osimhen goal against Udinese.

Lazio is in second place with 64 points after five games, while Napoli has 80 points from 33 games.
