President Muhammadu Buhari expressed confidence on Monday that the future administration of President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu would maintain the great trajectory attained during his own tenure by continuing to provide essential assistance to the Nigerian Navy.

Buhari expressed his extreme delight with the variety of naval assets on display and the combat readiness of the Nigerian military at the Presidential Fleet Review, which was potentially the last in his capacity as President and Commander-in-Chief and was held at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The President acknowledged the nation's pride in the Navy's great accomplishments throughout his eight-year presidency and said:

"My best wishes to our Navy for protecting our maritime domain and the economic prosperity of Nigeria. As I leave office on 29th May, I wish you all fair winds.

"ONWARD TOGETHER and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria."

Buhari declared that he had no doubt that Tinubu would oversee the Navy's continued acquisition of new equipment, expansion of shipbuilding for export, promotion of indigenous production, escalation of the fight against piracy, and resolution of issues relating to crude oil theft in Nigeria's maritime domain.
