UCL: VICTOR OSIMHEN EQUALS OBAFEMI MARTINS' RECORD

Victor Osimhen of Napoli has tied Obafemi Martins' record for the most goals scored by a Nigerian in a UEFA Champions League campaign.

His spectacular header in the Partenopei's 1-1 draw with AC Milan in the second leg of their quarterfinal battle upped his season total to five goals, tying Martins' record.

Obafemi Martins scored his first goal for another Italian club, Inter Milan, in the UEFA Champions League during the 2004/2005 season.

Despite Osimhen's record-equaling goal, Napoli were knocked out of the Champions League by AC Milan, their Italian rivals and seven-time winners.

Milan entered the game with a goal lead from the first leg at San Siro. Olivier Giroud, who had earlier missed a penalty, extended the Rossoneri's lead 43 minutes into the second leg in Naples.

Napoli struggled against Milan's tight defense, with winger Khivcha Kwaratskhelia also missing a crucial penalty in the second half.

Napolitano's historic semifinal spot was not secured by Osimhen's last-minute header.

The Super Eagles man scored twice in both matches to propel the Naples-based outfit into the quarter-finals.
