THE NIGERIAN MILITARY SPEAKS OUT ON THE MAY 29 POWER TRANSITION
The Defense Headquarters has stated its intention to conduct a peaceful transition to a new administration on May 29.
The military and intelligence community were ready to confront any danger to national security, according to the armed forces.
Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, Director, Defence Media Operations, spoke during a news conference in Abuja on Thursday.
The spokesperson asked citizens to disregard the fear caused by Nigeria's foes who foresee dangers.
"The general elections have come and gone, winners have been announced. People are just being apprehensive.
"People have been predicting that this country will finish but nothing has happened," Danmadami said.
He pledged that the military will continue to do their all to guarantee that peace and security are maintained.
According to him, the intelligence community is also working around the clock to maintain stability.
Danmadami said Nigerians should not be afraid about May 29 as the military would "address whatever calamity that wants to come up".
"We are ready...There is no cause for alarm and everything is under control," the spokesperson added.
