PEAK MILK ISSUES AN APOLOGY TO CHRISTIANS FOR A "OFFENSIVE" EASTER COMMERCIAL

The management of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, the company that makes Peak Milk, has apologized to the Christian organization in the nation after receiving a complaint from the Christian Association of Nigeria, or CAN, regarding an insulting advertisement on Good Friday.

The business had exploited a metaphor involving Jesus Christ's crucifixion to advertise its product on social media.

In a statement, CAN General Secretary Joseph Daramola called the advertising "insensitive, disrespectful, and absolutely unacceptable" and demanded that the company provide an urgent apology.

In response, Ore Famurewa, Executive Director of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc (Corporate Affairs), wrote to CAN on Tuesday to apologize and inform them that the social media advertisement had been taken down.

The organization acknowledged the sensitivity of the contentious social media post while noting that it was neither meant to minimize the importance of the occasion nor overly capitalize on Jesus Christ's unparalleled sacrifice.
