1. Barring any last-minute changes, the Federal Government will begin paying the planned salary increase for civil servants by the end of this month (April). This follows the federal government's decision to phase out fuel subsidies by June.


2. The Independent National Electoral Commission ordered Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Adamawa State, to stay away from the commission's state office on Monday. INEC's action was based on Yunusa-proclamation Ari's of Aisha Dahiru, widely known as Binani, as the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Saturday's supplementary election.


3. On Monday, the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court granted bail to Oluwafeyiropo Daniel, a bishop accused of raping two of his church pastors (names withheld). However, Justice Ramon Oshodi detained Oluwafeyiropo, the founder of iReign Christian Church, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the completion of his bail conditions.


4. Olaide Adekunle, 33, allegedly sold her 18-month-old baby for N600,000 to pay off a bank loan. The suspect, who lives in Sango in Ogun State's Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, allegedly fled to Lagos and sold the infant to an unidentified buyer.


5. The Nigeria Labour Congress has vowed to fight any attempt to derail the Labour Party, especially now that it has widespread support among Nigerians. The pledge was made on Monday, when the labor union's leadership invaded the Labour Party's national secretariat in Utako, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to demonstrate sympathy with the embattled National Chairman, Julius Abure, amid heavy security.


6. Several residents were reportedly killed and their homes were burned down during a conflict between herders and farmers in the Mai Tumbi community of Plateau's Mangu Local Government Area. According to reports, the conflict began on Friday and is still ongoing as of the time of reporting this article.


7. Gunmen kidnapped eight people in Owukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area, Benue State. According to witnesses, the event occurred on Sunday evening along the Atamka-Ugbugbu route in Owukpa, when the victims were returning from a village market, Ahor-Ogbo Market.


8. The All Progressives Congress (APC) vowed yesterday to oppose any attempt to overturn the electoral victory of its candidate, Aishatu Dahiru Binani, who was declared the winner of Saturday's supplementary elections by the State's REC, Hudu Yunusa Ari. At a press conference in Yola, the party criticized the negative propaganda used by PDP operatives in the media to undermine the process that delivered Binani as the victor of the hotly disputed poll.


9. The naira's performance in the currency market on Monday was mixed across market segments. The naira fell 0.41 percent to settle at N741 versus the greenback in the parallel market, while it rose 0.38 percent to close at N462.25/dollar in the I&E window, compared to N464.00/$1 on Friday.


10. Abubakar Abdulaziz, 30, of Sabuwar Santa, Musawa Local Government Area, Katsina State, is in police custody after allegedly kidnapping and burying a three-year-old boy alive. Despite receiving N150,000 of the N800,000 ransom sought by his father, Abdulaziz was reported to have buried the abducted boy alive.
