NIGERIAN DAILIES: FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS SATURDAY MORNING

1. Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the embattled National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has convened a meeting of the party's administrative organ, the National Working Committee. The meeting is slated for next Wednesday, according to a leaked memo sent to all NWC members.


2. Taofeek Adeagbo, an 18-year-old man, has been paraded by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly murdering his father. Rashidat, the suspect's mother, was also arrested for concealing the crime. The accused were paraded alongside 23 others in Ibadan on Friday, according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, who said the incident happened in Tede, Atisbo Local Government Area of the state.


3. The Labour Party leadership slammed President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday for alleging opposition parties lost the presidential election on February 25 due to overconfidence. In response to Buhari's remarks, the LP's acting National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, claimed in a statement yesterday that the president was aware that the LP's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had won the election.


4. Senate President Ahmad Lawan has asked opposition political parties to work with the upcoming All Progressives Congress government to move Nigeria forward. Lawan stated that with the end of the general elections, it was time for administration that is for everyone.


5. With less than seven months till the Kogi State governorship election, President Muhammadu Buhari backed the All Progressives Congress candidate, Usman Ododo, on Friday in Abuja. Ododo stated that he was devoted to expanding on the developmental strides of the state's incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello, which he said were achieved through inclusive administration.


6. On Friday, President-elect Bola Tinubu hosted two governors of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Defence House in Abuja. Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, and his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde, met with the new president.


7. The Gubernatorial Transition Committee (GTC) of Kano State Governor-elect Abba Kabir Yusuf has claimed that the outgoing government of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is undermining and sabotaging the transition process. However, the state government denied the allegation, claiming that the GTC had refused to submit the names of its three nominees to the government's transition committee.


8. The Federal Government stated on Friday that the withdrawal of fuel subsidies will not be postponed. Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, announced on Thursday that the government had deferred the scheduled withdrawal of petroleum subsidy by the conclusion of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration. She did, however, say yesterday that the removal was on track.


9. Senators-elect from the North Central geopolitical zone gathered in Abuja on Friday night and declared their support for Sani Musa for the position of Deputy Senate President of the 10th National Assembly. The senator-elect for Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Aliyu Wadada, who convened the meeting, stated that they would not accept any position other than that of Deputy Senate President.


10. A member of a vigilante group rescued a newborn infant abandoned at a garbage dump in front of Mile 3 Motor Park in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, early Friday. The wail of the female youngster, who was wrapped in garments and left in the cold, drew the attention of a vigilante member who was on a normal patrol at 3 a.m.
