Lothar Matthaus, a Bayern Munich icon, has stated that Manchester United target Harry Kane is too old and pricey.

Kane, who currently plays for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, has long been linked with a move away from the club.

In recent weeks, the 29-year-old has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Matthaus, on the other hand, believes Kane is not the right match for Bayern Munich.

"I'm excited to see if a new striker comes along," Matthaus wrote in his Sky Sport Deutschland column.

"Harry Kane would be too old and too expensive for me."
