LAMPARD MAKES AN UNEXPECTED COMEBACK AS CHELSEA'S HEAD COACH, FOLLOWING POTTER'S SACK
The UK Sun reports that Todd Boehly, a co-owner of Chelsea, might give Frank Lampard the chance to return to the team as a caretaker manager.
Lampard would be handed a contract that would go through this season.
At Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, the former England player was present to see the scoreless draw with Liverpool.
After being fired by Everton in January as a result of a horrendous run of defeats that put the Toffees in the relegation zone, Lampard has been without a job.
The 44-year-prior old's tenure as Chelsea's manager came to an end after 18 months.
While at the club, he led the Blues to an FA Cup final and qualified them for the Champions League while serving a suspension that barred him from making any signings for two transfer windows.
After Graham Potter was fired on Sunday, Chelsea is once again looking for a new permanent manager and would prefer to conduct an extensive search for his replacement.
In order to guide the Blues through the rest of the season until they find a new manager, Boehly may yet turn to Lampard.
