Tottenham caretaker manager Cristian Stellini has admitted that the formation he chose to play against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday was incorrect.

Newcastle scored five goals in the opening 21 minutes of play, and Stellini stated the mistake was switching to a back four instead of Conte's typical back three.

Tottenham improved in the second half after the coach switched to a back three, with Harry Kane scoring a consolation goal.

Newcastle won 6-1 thanks to a sixth-minute goal from substitute Callum Wilson.

"It is my responsibility, I took it and it was wrong," the Italian told Sky Sports.

"I have to take responsibility because once we changed the system we played better, scored and showed fight. It's very difficult to understand why the first 25 minutes were so bad."
