GOVERNOR UGWUANYI HONORS LATE BISHOP ENEJA 15 YEARS AFTER HIS DEATH
In furtherance of his proclaimed dedication to matters of God, Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi inaugurated and handed over to the Catholic Church in the state a befitting secretariat he built in Enugu for Bishop Michael Ugwuja Eneja Foundation (BIMEF) on Friday.
Bishop Eneja, who was ordained a priest on July 29, 1951 and died exactly 15 years ago on November 14, 2008, was highly renowned for his exceptional spiritual life and uprightness as a God's servant.
Governor Ugwuanyi also chose to provide the church's secretariat, recalling his personal interaction with Bishop Eneja as a student and how the late priest instilled in him a strong moral and spiritual life.
Speaking at the event, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Onaga, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, who represented two other Catholic Bishops in the state, thanked Governor Ugwuanyi in particular for his kind gesture, emphasizing that the governor's commitment to God and the directing of His flocks is exemplary and commendable.
Bishop Onaga, who described Bishop Eneja as a "servant of God," revealed that the foundation's secretariat, built by Governor Ugwuanyi, is one of the programs planned to honor the late bishop, explaining that it is also a step toward "the fulfillment of this servant of God's aspirations, mission and vision."
"It is a way of really giving hope to this idea of this foundation," the cleric added.
Bishop Onaga commended Governor Ugwuanyi for starting the process, saying: "Through the prayers of this servant of God, may everything you are going to do as a governor, and as a politician continue to be as God has willed it because you have always believed that all our doings are in the hands of God.
"Thank you so much. On behalf of the three bishops and the three dioceses of Enugu, Nsukka and Awgu that own, started and run this foundation, I say thank you very much for this great gift."
Mr. Anthony Mogboh Jr. SAN, who represented Chief Anthony Mogboh SAN, Mrs. Vero Mogboh, founding members of BIMEF, Monsignor Anthony Anijielo and Barr Joe Asogwa, Secretary of the Foundation, Chike Ezugu, and a host of other members were present at the event.
President Muhammadu Buhari has shared Sallah pleasantries with President-elect Bola Tinubu, whose whereabouts are unknown.
Buhari and Tinubu exchanged greetings over the phone on Friday.
Garba Shehu, the president's spokesman, stated Buhari and Tinubu prayed for Nigeria's stability and well-being during their chat.
According to Shehu, Buhari stated his willingness to welcome Tinubu inside the Presidential Villa.
Some Nigerians have recently raised concern regarding Tinubu's whereabouts.
According to reports, the President-elect was surreptitiously transported out of Nigeria for medical treatment on March 22.
According to accounts, Tinubu became unwell following months of nonstop political campaigns across the country.
Tinubu's media team, however, contradicted the notion in a statement, stressing that their principal simply went to Paris and London to relax and organize the transition program, following a very exhausting campaign and election campaign.
