FG CHARGES PETER OBI, A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE FOR THE LABOUR PARTY, WITH TREASON

Peter Obi

The Labour Party's presidential candidate for 2023, Peter Obi, has been charged with treason by the federal government for allegedly instigating violence in response to the election's results.

The government stated that it was wrong for Obi to seek redress in court over the results of the elections and, in another breadth, incite people to violence, in a statement made by the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, during his official engagements with international media organizations in Washington DC, USA.

According to the Minister of Information, Obi and his vice, Datti Ahmed, cannot warn Nigerians that the country's democracy will come to an end on May 29 if Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is inaugurated as president.

Several Nigerians have expressed alarm over the possible repercussions of the Federal Government's claims, which have sparked debate across the nation.

According to some, the administration is trying to muzzle dissenting voices and prevent them from being heard.
Mohammed characterized this as a treasonous act and a call to rebellion.

In addition, Peter Obi was condemned for making undemocratic sentiments out of desperation, according to the statement.

A democrat shouldn't trust in democracy solely if they succeed in winning the election, according to the minister.

"Obi and his Vice, Datti Ahmed cannot be threatening Nigerians that if the President-elect, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is sworn-in on May 29, it will be the end of democracy in Nigeria.

"This is treason. You cannot be inviting insurrection, and this is what they are doing.

"Obi's statement is that of a desperate person, he is not the democrat that he claimed to be.

"A democrat should not believe in democracy only when he wins the election," the minister said.
