FEMI GBAJABIAMILA TO BECOME TINUBU CHIEF OF STAFF
Prior to his inauguration as Nigeria's 16th president on May 29, Bola Tinubu, the country's president-elect, has started putting together his team. Femi Gbajabiamila, the House of Representatives Speaker, is reportedly in line to become his chief of staff.
Other people, including Atiku Bagudu, the governor of Kebbi State, and Wale Edun, the former commissioner for finance, are reportedly also being considered for important roles in the incoming administration, according to MON DIARIES.
An source claims that Gbajabiamila has already started acting as Tinubu's chief of staff and has began working with him informally to develop procedures and tactics for the incoming administration in France.
"He has technically resumed with him in Paris, and they are trying to work out process and plans," the source said.
According to reports, Edun and Bagudu were also added to Tinubu's economic team, with Edun serving as the team's coordinator and Bagudu as either the Finance Minister or the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Bagudu has been given a crucial position in the government as well.
"Wale is supposed to be the coordinator of the economy, either as Finance Minister or the CBN governor. It is not clear yet what his plans are for Bagudu. But he has also been penciled in and is going to be operating at a very high and serious level in the administration."
Some prominent Nigerians have urged for the political system to be restructured, including former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Ayo Adebanjo, the head of Afenifere, PDP presidential contender Abubakar Atiku, and Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
Many claim that Abdulsalami Abubakar, a former military head of state, enacted the 1999 constitution without consulting the Nigerian people, rendering it inoperative today.
President Buhari has approved the decentralization of the nation's power grid, jail system, and rail system as part of reorganizing key areas of the economy
