EPL: THEO WALCOTT CHOOSES THE BEST PREMIER LEAGUE SIDE

Theo Walcott

Southampton forward Theo Walcott has declared Arsenal to be the 'greatest team in the Premier League.'

Walcott, a former Arsenal youth player, believes the Gunners are 'far superior' than title rivals Manchester City.

The former England international was instrumental in Southampton's 3-3 draw with Arsenal on Friday night at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal have now dropped points in three of their previous three games, against Liverpool, West Ham, and now the Saints.

Carlos Alcaraz intercepted Aaron Ramsdale's straightforward pass and rifled a shot into the far corner, giving Ruben Selles' team the lead after only 28 seconds.

Southampton's lead was subsequently extended in 14 minutes when Walcott grabbed onto a through pass and slotted home the second.

Gabriel Martinelli equalized for the hosts, but it wasn't long until Duje Caleta-Car headed home from a rare Southampton assault in the second half.

But late goals from Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka saved a point for Mikel Arteta's team.

And, as the Gunners prepare to face Manchester City at the Etihad on Wednesday, they lead by five points, despite City having two games in hand.

Walcott, on the other hand, feels his former club can shock the defending champions at the Etihad.

According to Walcott, "Arsenal are just incredible. We played Man City the other week and I thought Arsenal were way better than them.

"That's how I see Arsenal at the moment. [Arsenal] are the best team in this league at this moment in time."
