EPL: CHELSEA HAS BEEN ADVISED TO SELL TEN PLAYERS FOLLOWING THEIR DEFEAT TO REAL MADRID

Joe Cole, a former Chelsea forward, has advised the club to transfer at least ten players this summer.

This was a response to Chelsea's elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid upset the Blues 2-0 in the Bernabeu last week, and Rodrygo's second-half brace helped them to a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will have nothing to show after spending over £600 million on players in the last two transfer windows, while Real Madrid advances to the Champions League semi-finals, where they will face either Manchester City or Bayern Munich.

Stamford Bridge presently has around 30 first-team players, which makes coaching the team difficult, according to Cole.

According to reports, this was one of the reasons former Brighton manager Potter failed at the club.

Chelsea will almost probably not be in the Champions League, Europa League, or even the Conference League next season, and Cole believes this may be a blessing in disguise.

Cole told BT Sport: "It (not playing in Europe) helped Antonio Conte's team. Chelsea finished 10th and then won the league after Conte came in.

"Without a doubt, it will help the team.

"But it will only help if Chelsea offload at least 10 players. I think at least 10 players need to be trimmed from the squad."
