SDP ACCEPTS TINUBU AS THE ELECTION'S WINNER
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced the results of the presidential election, and the Social Democratic Party, SDP has accepted them and will not take legal action to overturn them.
This was said by Shehu Gabam, the national chairman of the SDP, during a news conference on the results of the presidential election on Thursday in Abuja.
"However, every party has the right to protest, but we are not party to any protest," he said.
Despite the difficulties encountered during the poll, Bola Tinubu of the APC was declared the winner by INEC, according to Mr. Gabam.
He claimed that while the party did not challenge the presidential election in court, it would do so in areas where it believed the SDP had won the federal parliamentary elections. He claimed that the party finished sixth in the presidential election and had won two senatorial and four House of Representatives seats.
He expressed optimism that SDP will win some governorship and state Houses of Assembly seats and promised that the party would continue to assist its candidates in the state elections.
According to Mr. Gabam, the SDP did not provide any instructions about protests against the elections on February 25 and was not involved in any of them.
The usage of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) and the posting of the election results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal, he added, were two difficulties with the election.
