During the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella admitted that he had to look up Enzo Fernandez on Google to figure out who he was.

Cucurella stated that he was absolutely unaware of his new teammate Fernandez before the World Cup began.

Fernandez had not played for Argentina previous to Qatar 2022, and he came off the bench in the team's loss against Saudi Arabia.

He then became a major player in Argentina's World Cup victory and the Premier League's most expensive player when he joined Chelsea from Benfica for a cost of £106.8 million.

"I liked to watch matches in which my friends were playing, so I was watching Argentina because of Alexis," Cucurella told ESPN.

"I think I said, "I really like number 24, he's very good!' But I didn't even know where he played! I had to go and search on my phone google.

"As I watched more games, I told my family and friends that I really liked him a lot. And then he came to Chelsea! We have [signed] a great midfielder."
