The reason why Chelsea defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in their Champions League round of 16 second-leg match on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge was outlined by Chelsea manager Graham Potter.
Potter claimed that Chelsea's victory over Dortmund was a result of his team's excellent performance against the guests, which included several good opportunities generated and disciplined play against the Bundesliga's top team.
The Englishman watched as the Blues advanced to the quarterfinals with a 2-1 aggregate victory thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling.
After the game, at his post-game press conference, Potter said, "It was a fantastic atmosphere, a fantastic evening.
"The players were tremendous, the supporters were tremendous. It is a fantastic result on such a big night and I am just so proud of the players.
"We played really well and we created a lot of good opportunities. I think over the two games, we did enough to win the tie, but we still had to get the job done, which we did."
"We pressed high, we won tackles, we were organised, and we played some decent stuff against a top team. We are really happy to go through."
