GBADEBO RHODES-ALLEGED VIVOUR'S U.S CERTIFICATE FRAUD IS DISCUSSED
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a candidate for governor on the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, has had his degree verified by MIT.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has validated Gbadebo Rhodes-certificate Vivour's as the Labour Party's (LP) candidate for governor of Lagos State.
Rhodes-Vivour is the subject of a certificate fabrication accusation that surfaced when an email claiming to be from the MIT registrar's office made its way onto social media and claimed he had never attended the school.
Rhodes-Vivour indeed attended the university and received a Master's degree, according to Sarah McDonnell, the MIT News Office's deputy director for media relations.
"Thank you for reaching out. The MIT Registrar's Office can confirm that Rhodes-Vivour attended MIT from 2005 to 2008 and earned a Master of Architecture degree," Ms McDonnell wrote.
The question of whether the initial email that stated Rhodes-Vivour did not attend the school came from the record office was put to Ms. McDonnell in another email.
By stating that the mail came from MIT, McDonnell attested to its veracity. But she asserted that the record office initially conducted a search utilizing a, "variation of Mr Rhodes-Vivour's name that did not match the information in MIT's database.
On his Twitter account, Rhodes-Vivour responded to the forgery allegation by calling it fake news and another attempt by his opponents to draw attention away from issue-based campaigns.
"This is untrue and another failed strategy the opposition is using to divert your attention from having an issue-based campaign," Rhodes-Vivour tweeted.
