FINTIRI AND BINANI: INEC UPDATE ON THE SUPPLEMENTARY GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION FOR ADAMAWA IS PROVIDED

In Abuja on Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, pledged to hold a credible supplementary governorship election in Adamawa State that would be Nigerians' and the world's pride.

The assurance was given by Mr. Festus Okoye, INEC's Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, when some women protested the Adamawa election outside the Commission's headquarters in the nation's capital.

Hajiya Lami Lau, the President of the National Council of Women Societies, led the protestors (NCWS).

Okoye thanked the women for acting in a peaceful manner and remarked that INEC belonged to all Nigerians.

"The people of Adamawa are the only ones with the right to elect their governor; those of us in the Commission and Nigerians from other states have no vote in Adamawa," Okoye told the protesters.
