ENUGU GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION: FAKE POLICEMEN INVADE ISU-UZO POLLING UNIT
The bishop expresses concern about the infiltration of polling stations by impersonated police officers
There is unrest in Enugu State's Isi-Uzo Local Government Area due to reports of fake policemen infiltrating voting stations.
The Anglican Bishop of Eha-Amufu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Daniel Olinya, confirmed the development on Saturday morning.
According to the Bishop, Isi-Uzo is under siege by bogus security services.
He revealed that the situation was the same in the polling unit where he was meant to vote.
"When I got to my polling unit at Umuokpara, members of a particular political party were intimidating voters who they feel are not in support of their party. When I spoke, they shouted me down.
"I asked about the presence of policemen and a lady on bathroom
slippers showed up. When I enquired
about her ID card, she showed me a cap.
"This is the situation in all the polling units in Eha-Amufu; the police have refused to protect the ballot.
"We are calling on the Commissioner of Police to do something about this ugly situation," Bishop Olinya said.
