BAYERN MUNICH EXPLAINS THEIR DECISION TO HIRE TUCHEL AS THEIR NEW MANAGER
Thomas Tuchel
Bayern Munich has given an explanation for why they fired Julian Nagelsmann and appointed Thomas Tuchel, a former Chelsea manager, in his place.
Oliver Kahn, the club's CEO, claimed that the 35-year-old had to be let go because the Bundesliga champions needed to change course.
Kahn made note of the fact that Bayern has played less enticing football since play resumed after the World Cup in Qatar in a statement on Friday.
"But now we have come to the conclusion that the quality in our squad-despite the Bundesliga title last year has come to the fore less and less often.
"After the World Cup we have played less successfully and less attractively," Kahn said.
Nagelsmann, who joined Allianz Arena from Red Bull Leipzig in the summer of 2021, lasted less than two years in the hot seat.
He won the German Super Cup in 2021 and 2022, as well as the Bundesliga title after just one season.
