The Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Idris Ahmed, has been suspended, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed that it has so far recovered almost N30 billion from the corruption activities surrounding him.
This was said by the chairman of the commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Thursday during the Ministerial Media Briefing held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and hosted by the Presidential Communications Team.
Keep in mind that the Commission is now bringing charges against him for an alleged N109 billion fraud.
He listed other recoveries as N134,33,759,574.25, $121,769,076.30, £21,020.00, €156,925.00, 21,350.00, and CFA300,000.00 among others when highlighting the accomplishments of the anti-graft body from January to December 2022.
Additionally, he disclosed that throughout the time period, 3,615 convictions had been recorded, demonstrating the administration's commitment to its anti-corruption initiative.
The head of the EFCC indicated that more than 150 homes would be sold to potential buyers after the statewide auction of forfeited cars.
Bawa promised that it would be difficult to launder money in the nation once the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCMUL) was fully established.
