NNPC CLAIMS THAT CONTINUOUS ROAD DEVELOPMENT IN LAGOS MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO ACCESS DEPOTS

According to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the nationwide gasoline lines are a result of restricted truck movements to load the product in Lagos State due to ongoing road development.

NNPCL noted that loading of gasoline to Abuja and other regions of the country has been hindered by developments around Apapa and access road issues in various areas of Lagos terminals.

Adetunji added the following on how the traffic jams in Lagos affected the flow of gasoline:

"Abuja is impacted by the challenges recorded in Lagos. NNPC Retail and key marketers have intensified dedicated loading into Abuja to restore normalcy as soon as possible."

However, he gave the Nigerian people the reassurance that actions are being taken to guarantee that normalcy returns as soon as possible.

"We want to reassure all Nigerians that NNPC has sufficient products, and we significantly increased products loading including 24-hour operations in selected depots and extended hours at strategic stations to ensure products sufficiency nationwide

"We are also working with the NMDPRA, MOMAN, DAPPMAN, IPMAN, NARTO, PTO, and other industry stakeholders to ensure normalcy is returned," he said.

Regarding the available gasoline supply, Adetunji stated that the NNPC has a nationwide PMS storage of more than 2 billion liters that would last for more than 30 days.
