ASUU PAID IN FULL FOR NOVEMBER. ARREARS NOT PAID

For the month of November 2022, lecturers employed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities have earned their full pay.

Additionally, our source learned that the Federal Government continued to hold back the eight-month arrears.

This information was provided to our correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday during a conversation with a top union member at Bayero University Kano.

"Some of our members have started receiving salaries and I can confirm to you that we received our full salaries for the month of November. However, the arrears are still withheld."

Reports state that during the union's eight-month strike, the Federal Government refused to pay the lecturers on strike.

According to Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, the lecturers were also paid pro rata (half-pay) in October 2022.

Educators from all throughout the nation have been demonstrating against this Federal Government decision.

In the upcoming days, the union's National Executive Council is anticipated to convene an important meeting regarding the unpaid wages.
