Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni has given reasons for his side's shock defeat to Saudi Arabia in the World Cup on Tuesday.

For Argentina to have any hope of making it to the round of 16, it must now defeat Mexico and Poland.

The South Americans took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal from Lionel Messi, but Saudi Arabia came back to win all three points with two goals in a matter of seconds.

According to Scaloni, it is hard to explain how the Arab country scored two goals in the span of four minutes.

He called it "a sad day" and stated that the only way to console the fans is for them to win their upcoming games.

"We already knew how they played, and in fact, we were preparing the game in the week to face a high defensive line. The offsides were a few millimetres.

"I think the first half was all us and those offsides could have been goals. on another occasion."
