Daniel emphasized the urgent need for Nigerians to return to farming as the only practical method to improve local food production and create a sustainable economy. He was perplexed by the impact of the global food scarcity.

The senatorial candidate recalled that while he was governor 15 years ago, his desire to increase food production and revitalize agriculture with necessary infrastructure influenced his idea of the agro-cargo airport in Iperu. He claimed that his government acquired the land, paid compensation, and completed the airport designs before the end of his tenure in 2011.

"There is global food shortage, there is hunger in the land. Nigeria needs to return to agriculture as the only alternative means of providing food, generating revenue and foreign exchange and to also increase local food sufficiency.

"Our belief in agriculture is the reason why we started giving out tractors. It is telling the people the next way to go, which is agriculture," Daniel stated.

He praised the governor for reconsidering the airport project, noting that it is now almost finished.

As the electorate is now well educated, the senatorial contender has cautioned politicians to stop taking them for granted.
