PRESIDENCY: PLAN YOUR MOVEMENT - LAGOS STATE TINUBU RALLY
Road closures are announced in Lagos as Tinubu invades the city for a rally for the presidency
The All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential and Gubernatorial Rallies, scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, will be accompanied by a traffic diversion, according to the Lagos State Government.
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC's presidential candidate, and Kashim Shettima, his running mate, will attend the huge gathering there.
In a statement issued by the Ministry on Wednesday, Lagosians were advised to plan their travels in and around the Surulere neighborhoods of Alhaji Masha, Funsho Williams Avenue, and Teslim Balogun Stadium. Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde made this information public.
According to Oladeinde, there will be a number of traffic diversions for the sake of managing safety and security, and movement of people and vehicles around the impacted regions will be limited.
According to him, traffic on Funsho Williams/Western Avenue heading toward Lagos Island will be rerouted to the Express Lanes at the Barracks bus stop for motorists heading to Costain, Apapa, Ijora, Victoria Island, and Lagos Island, and off to Olumegbon for motorists heading to the New Lagos/Surulere areas.
The Express Lanes/Stadium Bridge at the Alaka bus stop will be used by persons traveling to Mushin, Palm Groove, Ikeja, Ojota, and Ikorodu regions, and Bode Thomas and Eric Moore at Ponri Estate will be used by individuals traveling to New Lagos/Surulere locations, according to the commissioner.
According to him, only human traffic would be permitted on Funsho Williams from the Olumegbon junction to Alaka and Alhaji Masha road from the Akerele/Shitta junction to ensure everyone's safety.
Dladeinde stressed that those traveling from Ojuelegba, Mushin, or Palmgrove on Funsho Williams will enter the National Stadium via a U-turn at Alaka and will receive free parking for vehicles transporting party members and other individuals having accredited stickers for the event.
