EIGHT NIGERIAN-AMERICANS TRIUMPH IN THE US MIDTERM ELECTIONS
In the United States' midterm elections, eight legislators of Nigerian descent won seats in the legislature.
Georgia, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and the District of Columbia all saw their candidates win seats (DC).
The Nigerian American Public Affairs Committee (NAPAC) announced the winners' names and positions.
Segun Adeyina and Gabe Okoye won the elections for Georgia State Representatives in Districts 102 and 110, respectively.
Phil Olaleye is the Georgia State Representative in District 59, while Tish Naghise won the election for Georgia State Representative in District 68.
Oye Owolewa is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (Shadow Representative) in Washington, D.C. Carol Kazeem represents Pennsylvania's State Representative District 159.
Esther Agbaje was returned as the Minnesota State Representative for District 59B, whereas Solomon Adesanya is now the District 43 state representative for Georgia.
The federal government has praised the elected officials for their accomplishments.
The victory, according to Amb. Lot Egopija, Nigeria's consul general in New York, demonstrated Nigerians' tenacity to endure anywhere.
"We are not surprised. We are happy, and we are delighted about the victory", he told NAN.
The ambassador urged people who wanted to run for politics to keep going after their goals.
